“We are facing Ecological crisis due to Chemical Toxicity”

Chemical toxicity of our natural resources like soil, water and air pollution is a real problem and needs to be addressed on priority for Sustainable Environment, health and Planetary health States like Punjab are facing serious environmental crisis with widespread water, soil and air pollution. There are serious problem of chemical toxicity of surface and ground water and soil leading to chemical toxicity of food chain thereby having serious adverse health effects and evidence of genotoxicity on population. There is a need for a centre focusing on sustainable development, health and wellness which can act as demonstration centre with active participation of stakeholders and community.

Pindi foundation’s sustainable development initiative focuses on Health and Wellness and help in strengthening Primary and Secondary health care, improve quality of care and provide universal health coverage and make services equitable, affordable and accessible at grassroot level in a village setting.

Project location:

Proposed centre is located in Village Gurah, near Jayanti Majri temple and Perch dam, Tehsil Majri, District Mohali, Punjab and is about 5-6 kms and 15 minutes’ drive from PGIMER Chandigarh and medicity in New Chandigarh connected with a motorable road.

Site is about 200 meters and connected with 30 feet wide road to main road. The road has recently come under Pradhanmantari SadhakYojna.

Natural & Organic farming: To avoid the toxicity in the food we consume due to pesticide and fertilizers training in organic farming will help to local farmers to learn new techniques there.

Healthcare facility: The idea is to setup a small healthcare centre so that it will help local community for medical treatments and health checkups. It will promote one health and also work for cancer and drug abuse p prevention.

Yoga and Meditation: These are important elements in maintaining a healthy lifestyle. It concentrates on achieving both mental and physical wellness. Indoor and outdoor both spaces will be built within the centre to promote wellness for users.

Water centre: Water centre is proposed as demonstration centre on the site to conserve the water and harvest it in strategies to charge depleting ground water table.

Digital Smart Village: Village Gurah is adopted by the Centre for helping to improve the infrastructure of the village and empower the community for sustainable growth and development making it a smart village.

Eco tourism: The proposal is to give 20-30 Cabin Huts to promote the Eco-tourism on the site. It will be used by the guest coming for therapies or wanted to stay away from the hustle bustle of the city for few days.

Art & Exhibition space: This space will act as social congregation space between the urban and the local community in which they can exhibit their work and have interaction and can get exposure to learn how to improve the lifestyle.

Naturopathy: This is the system of treating the disease or the human body problems with the natural and traditional methods used by our ancestors. Naturopathy is an art and science of healthy living and a drugless system of healing based on well founded philosophy. It has its own concept of health and disease and also principle of treatment.
